Condé Nast Traveler announced the results of its annual Readers’ Choice Awards with Hilton Head Island recognized as the No. 1 island in the United States for the third consecutive year.
Out of the Top 20 Resorts in the South awards, four are in southern Beaufort County: Palmetto Dunes Oceanfront Resort, Montage Palmetto Bluff, The Inn & Club at Harbour Town, and The Westin Hilton Head Island Resort & Spa. The Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport was also recognized as the No. 2 Airport in the U.S.
Earlier this year, Travel + Leisure readers named Hilton Head Island the No. 1 Island in the Continental U.S. for the fourth year in a row, and Southern Living readers voted it “South’s Best Beach Town” for the second consecutive year.
“These third-party endorsements and accolades enhance our reputation as a world-class destination and help support our tourism-based economy, which has a $1.4 billion economic impact and touches each and every business and resident of our region,” said Bill Miles, the president and CEO of the Hilton Head Island-Bluffton Chamber of Commerce. “We thank all of those in the community who help make these accolades possible.”
More than 600,000 Condé Nast Traveler readers across the globe submitted a recording-breaking number of responses rating their travel experiences to provide a full snapshot of where and how we travel today.
The Condé Nast Traveler Readers’ Choice Awards are the longest-running and most prestigious recognition of excellence in the travel industry and are commonly known as “the best of the best of travel.”
