Libraries For Kids, Int’l continues to grow and has hired Francis “Ciku” Wanjiku as Operations Director in Kenya.

Wanjiku is a software engineer with a degree from Kenyatta University; certified CICT by KASNEB. She is a single mom to a four-year-old boy, Francis Mwachugha Mkindi, aka “JJ.”

Ciku has been doing extensive work for us as a volunteer since 2018 and has been invaluable in connecting us to schools and resolving shipping issues. As Director of Operations, she will continue coordinating with schools. She will also oversee the receipt of containers (each holding 22,000 books), temporary storage of those books, and distribution of books to rural schools.

When asked why she became such a devoted volunteer for Libraries For Kids, Int’l she replied:

“When I was in school we had 30-40 students in a class and we all had to share one textbook. I will do everything I can to improve education in my country.”
